Introductions should be done gradually. Quarantine the new rat for two weeks, exchange bedding to share scents, then introduce the rats in neutral territory under close supervision. After successful neutral introductions, clean the main enclosure and rearrange the layout before placing the rats together.

What should I do if my rat bites me?
Wash the wound immediately with soap and water. Apply pressure if it is bleeding. Seek medical attention if the wound is deep, becomes red, swollen, or painful, or if you have a weakened immune system. After addressing the wound, identify the cause of the bite. Review the circumstances that led to the bite and adjust your handling approach accordingly. If the rat has bitten more than once, consult a veterinarian.
