What This Means for Peas as a Treat
None of this research applies to a spoonful of cooked peas from your dinner plate. A dog eating a normal complete diet with occasional peas as a treat is not the population these diets describe.
The relevant question is about the complete diet, not the ingredient. If your dog eats a grain-free, legume-rich diet and has any cardiac risk factors, breed predisposition, or symptoms such as exercise intolerance, coughing, or fainting, talk to your veterinarian.
