How long should new sheep be quarantined?

What are the signs of mastitis in sheep?
Clinical mastitis causes visible changes in the udder, such as heat, swelling, redness, or pain. The milk may appear abnormal, with clots, discoloration, or a watery consistency. The ewe may show signs of systemic illness, such as fever or reduced appetite. Subclinical mastitis is detected through testing, such as the California Mastitis Test or somatic cell count measurement.
When should I call the veterinarian?
Call the veterinarian when you have a situation that is beyond your experience or that does not respond to routine management. This includes sudden death of multiple animals, severe illness, lameness that persists despite treatment, mastitis that does not respond, poor response to anthelmintics, or any unusual signs. Early veterinary involvement is often more cost-effective than delayed treatment.
