This Privacy Policy explains how Dr. Zubair Khalid ("I," "me," or "the Website") handles personal information when you use zubairkhalid.com. The Website is an academic and professional resource. It is not designed to collect sensitive personal, medical, veterinary, financial, or account information, and you should not submit that information through the contact form, newsletter form, or AI-assisted chat.

1. Information Collected

2. How Information Is Used

Newsletter entries that fail abuse checks may be kept in a separate security review list for up to 90 days, including in a separate Brevo list when the submitted email address is syntactically valid but flagged.

3. Newsletter and Email

Newsletter sign-ups are managed by Brevo. A subscription is not added to the mailing list until you confirm it using the double opt-in email sent by Brevo. You may unsubscribe at any time using the link in any newsletter or by contacting [email protected]. Brevo processes subscription information under its own privacy terms.

Messages sent through the contact form or the chat's "Leave a message" option are emailed to [email protected] using Brevo. If you leave your email address in the chat so I can reply, it is added to a separate Brevo follow-up list, not the newsletter. Please include only information that is appropriate to send by email.

4. AI-Assisted Chat & Interactive Tools

The "Happy to Help!" interactive chat guide and on-site calculators are AI-assisted educational tools. Replies in AI Guide mode are generated automatically by third-party AI language models, accessed through OpenRouter, and are not live medical consultations with Dr. Khalid. Chat requests are processed through secured server-side API connections. Chat conversations are logged in the Website's database on Cloudflare so that answers can be reviewed, problems fixed, and abuse prevented.

5. Terms & Conditions for AI Assistant & Tool Use

By launching, chatting with, or utilizing the AI Assistant or interactive calculators on zubairkhalid.com, you agree to the following terms and conditions:

• Educational Purpose Only: All AI-generated responses, calculations, and article recommendations are provided strictly for general educational and navigation purposes. They do not constitute professional medical, veterinary, or financial advice.
• No Veterinarian-Client-Patient Relationship (VCPR): Interacting with the AI Assistant or submitting queries does not establish a formal veterinarian-client-patient relationship. No such relationship is created by any communication through this Website.
• Emergency Protocol: Never rely on the AI Assistant or web tools for acute medical emergencies or life-threatening pet symptoms. If your animal is in distress, immediately contact a veterinarian or emergency clinic.
• AI Accuracy & Verification: Artificial intelligence models may occasionally generate inaccurate, incomplete, or outdated information. Users should independently verify all recommendations with qualified professionals before making decisions.
• Data Submission & Contact Information: Names and email addresses you choose to submit in the chat are stored to enable direct follow-up. Please do not submit medical information or sensitive data through this form.

6. Cookies, Local Storage, and Analytics

The Website uses essential cookies and similar storage for security, fraud prevention, language preferences, sign-in features, and other functions you request. Cloudflare may set security cookies when it verifies legitimate visitors. These technologies are necessary for the Website to operate and cannot be disabled through the Website's cookie controls.

The Website uses Google Analytics (GA4) to understand aggregate visitor trends, measure pages viewed, referral sources, and improve our scientific guides and tools. Google Analytics uses cookies such as _ga to distinguish unique users and analyze site interactions. The Website does not use Google Analytics data for cross-site retargeting or targeted advertising, and does not sell personal data.

Mediavine Programmatic Advertising (Ver 1.1)

The Website works with Mediavine to manage third-party interest-based advertising appearing on the Website. The Website relies on service providers to host and secure the Website, deliver email, and measure usage, including Cloudflare (hosting, security, and database), Brevo (email and newsletter), Google (analytics and optional sign-in), Mediavine (advertising), and OpenRouter and the AI model providers it routes to (AI-assisted chat). The Website does not currently sell products or process payments. These providers process information only as needed to provide their services and under their own terms and privacy policies. The Website may also link to external websites; their privacy practices are governed by their own policies.

8. Retention and Security

Contact messages are retained only as long as reasonably necessary to respond to the inquiry, keep relevant records, or meet legal obligations. Chat logs are kept to review and improve answers and are deleted on request. Newsletter information is retained until you unsubscribe or request deletion, subject to any necessary recordkeeping. I use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards, including encrypted HTTPS connections, but no online service can guarantee absolute security.

9. Your Choices and Rights

You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of personal information I hold about you, or object to certain processing where applicable.
